Brightly colored digital collage-style graphic for the “Science Go Seek” STEM campaign, co-branded by DoSomething.org and 3M. The design features playful floating objects like birds, stars, airplanes, and records against a blue sky with clouds. Bold text in black and outlined white reads “SCIENCE GO SEEK,” visually emphasizing a sense of curiosity and discovery through everyday items.
About the Program
Science Go Seek was a nationwide STEM engagement challenge designed to help middle and high school students uncover the science behind their everyday passions — from music and sports to gaming and baking. Through short-form video storytelling, participants explored how STEM intersects with their hobbies and interests, reframing science as creative, personal, and relevant.
Digital collage of a young person typing on a laptop, overlaid on a dreamy sky background with clouds. Behind them is a stylized text editor interface displaying the words “Dear State Legislator,” representing youth advocacy efforts as part of a STEM campaign.

Youth advocacy was a key component of the Science Go Seek campaign, empowering participants to call for greater access to experiential STEM learning by writing letters to their elected officials.

As part of the campaign, young people were also invited to take action by sending letters to their elected officials, calling for increased access to experiential STEM learning. This advocacy extension expanded the program’s impact, encouraging participants to not only recognize the role of STEM in their lives, but to champion equitable access to hands-on STEM education in their schools and communities.
Creative Scope
• Developed the campaign’s visual identity, including the concept, logo, color palette, and imagery approach
• Designed digital assets for web, social, and scholarship engagement
• Adapted design outputs in response to evolving timelines and campaign priorities, including an advocacy extension that expanded the campaign’s reach through civic engagement messaging
Each object was selected to represent a student-relevant interest (music, sports, nature, fashion) and edited with a vibrant gradient overlay to evoke wonder and surrealism. The consistent lighting and color treatment created a unified visual system that mimicked the effect of a hands-on “I Spy” collage — inviting young people to look closer and explore the hidden science behind the everyday.

Social launch post for National STEM Day, featuring the “STEM Blender” — an interactive prompt generator designed to spark creative STEM connections between students’ everyday interests and core scientific concepts. This tool supported early campaign engagement by offering randomized combinations like “skateboarding + gravity” or “music + acoustics,” helping participants kickstart their video submissions.

Out-of-home awareness ads designed to spark curiosity and drive SMS engagement around STEM-powered facts, using humor and surprise to highlight science in unexpected places.

Program Results
Science Go Seek combined digital storytelling with youth-led advocacy to reimagine how STEM education shows up in everyday life. The campaign invited students to explore science through personal interests while championing equitable access to experiential learning in their schools. By blending creativity, curiosity, and civic engagement, the initiative laid groundwork for future cross-disciplinary programming centered on access and representation in STEM.

Science Go Seek invited students to see the invisible — reframing everyday experiences as opportunities for discovery. The creative system aimed to support that vision through playful, surreal visuals that made STEM feel as personal and alive as the passions it powers.
